Dry and diphtheritic pox in an adult turkey associated with suprainfection with Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp.: A case report

Fowl pox is an important viral disease of avian species which have been identified in over 60 wild birds. It caused by a virus belonging to the family Poxviridae and genus Avipoxvirus. Transmission within flock tends be rapid seasons when mosquitoes are abundant. Pox slow-spreading exists two forms; first form also known as cutaneous or dry spread biting insects (especially mosquitoes), cause discrete nodular proliferative skin lesions on combs, wattles, beak shank. The second inhalation causes fibrinonecrotic diphtheritic membrane mouth, pharynx, larynx, trachea oesophagus. A client brought carcass necropsy unit Veterinary Teaching Hospital, University Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. Physical examination revealed head shanks. oral cavity creamy-white lesion. Esophagus, proventricular testicular serosa had focal nodule. Histological there was ballooning degeneration keratinocytes with eosinophilic cytoplasmic inclusions. testes lymphocytic infiltration seminiferous tubules. Secondary bacterial infections result immunosuppression due virus. This case report presentation both extending visceral organs.
